Don't highlite search phrase on edit

For me it's annoying that the search phrase becomes highlited when I place the mouse cursor for editing. Because in 90% of the cases I want to fine tune the search or correct a mistyping or alter just a part of the phrase, or I want to extend the phrase, but only in 10% of the cases I want to cancel the old search and start entirely new.
My approach is: place the cursur precisely for editing, and press Strg-A to highlite the entire phrase, or double tap to highlite a word, triple tap to highlite the entire phrase.
