Convenient if one could add lnk files for shortcuts for content search.
If a hit on lnk-file, the file pointed to is searched.

Thank you very much for your post. Do you mean that you want to search in a single file only? Or do you want some kind of batch file with a predefined search? Can you please elaborate a bit more on your feature request?

You brought up something I did not think of like if pointing to a bat-file or something even some file type not supported for content search.
What I missed explaining was
- text of lnk-file gets a hit in file search part
- if a lnk-file, shortcut, is pointing to another file type that is approved for content search, search just that file too.
- if content search then of course
A lnk-file point to a pdf, search that pdf.
A lnk-file point to a bat-file search that bat-file only.
If a lnk-file point to a dll or exe file, don't search that for content.
That was the basic idea if that makes more sense.

if you in the first place added lnk extension for content search then, So anybody can opt out of this feature.

OK, understood. You may also use symbolic links for such purposes, they often work out-of-the-box.
