We would like to use TreeSize to support clean up of our SharePoint sites as we are very pleased with 45% reduction in file share content as a result of people using TreeSize.
We have connected TreeSize to SharePoint but feel unable to deploy this to end users while they are able to scan all site collections. In our organisation (as this includes attempting to scan everone's OneDrive) this is a considerable number of sites resulting in throttling in the SP tenancy and sites not opening.

I totally agree that it does not make sense for an average user to scan all SharePoint site collections. This is why the checkbox to do so is unchecked by default. Of course, this does not prevent a user to turn it on, even if it does not have any benefit.
We will therefore only show this checkbox in the TreeSize application mode "expert". Would that be an acceptable solution for you?
Jude
I don't beleive that would work for us as we recommend users change to Expert mode if they want to increase the thread count and priority and unless that’s changed you can’t do that in simple or normal mode. Ideally we just want to be able to hide / grey out the option during packaging.
Team TreeSize
Hi Jude,
does increasing the thread count and priority has any measurable impact on your scan times? You can already change the values for thread priority and count when deploying TreeSize, although typically our customers wanted to decrease them.
Please feel free to contact our technical support using our contact form to discuss this more detailed: customers.jam-software.de/contact.php?language=EN&article_no=90
We would be interested to hear more about your use case in order to improve TreeSize for it.
Jude
When we were first trialling TreeSize we played around with options and increasing the thread count and priority did affect the scan times. We give users the option to adjust and explain that we don't set a recommendation as the impact will vary depending on the spec of the machine and what else it is being used for. Would it be possible to restrict the box to when TreeSize is running as an administrator? If the only way to restrict the checkbox for all sites is to remove Expert mode we could reassess thread info and update our documentation.

in my company as user I had requested to allow scanning sharepoints I have access to(only a very small portion compared to the overall sharepoints; => manuals.jam-software.com/treesize/DE/?azure-ad-configuration.html )
This is under evaluation currently
I might have a similiar topic with net shares:
\myAffiliate. ...have access to only some subfolders
.mySkillTeam ... have access with all subfolders
.otherSkillTeam1
.otherSkillTeam1Public ... have access only here
.otherSkillTeam2
I get a result of 0 Bytes content in those folders I have no access to
feedback would be appreciated that those folders cannot be scanned due to restricted access instead

Hi Wolfgang,
by design TreeSize can only scan to what the used user has access to. This is not directly related to this feature request, but it is more a support question than a feature proposal.
