Hello , so this is about

Duplicate FOLDER Search : ADD option to have same exact name

while searching with content to match the MD5

Note : while search for same size and same name folder there is a big mistake the treesize shows , when i click to see the MD5 COLUMN the application shows same hashes for each folder but when you use another program to calculate the files hashes they are different and even in size are different names are exact yes for sure

so we need a bit of focus on what i am saying this is a plus feature no one else have it , I test hundreds of software every month so i rarely like some good feature

what i use is version 9.1. pro version - I use win 10 and win 11 and win server 2012 and win server 2022

what i am requested , please make sure the 2 folders or more that shows on the dupe search for size or name or even name and size to be exact ones when i click view MD5 checksum column

so i get it , i am searching for folder names not for content md5 but if this is enable a column to be viewed after search result or before the search start in all ways , folder MD5 hashes should never calculated the same if the are true different in checksums ,

now back to the request feature

please add same exact name to be add to folder search while searching for content

so if i have 3 FOLDER NAMED

A-B-C-111
A-B-C
A-B

I dont want to see a match result for content result for these 3 folders even they have the exact files checksums because they dont have the exact names

if i choose same name from the filter which is name match just picks up a partial name of the folder which isn't what i am looking for

i want some filter to show only exact folder names with exact md5 checksum hashes for all files inside each folder
A-B-C-111 should only match A-B-C-111 no extra digit or less a digit
thank you

A

I have understood your feature request, but I think it is a bit exotic, which might explain why no other software has it. Typically our users want a folder listed if its files are 100% identical, even if the folder name differs.

Well, I guess the reason is that there is no standardized way to calculate a single MD5 hash for an entire directory tree.

i guess this is important feature maybe if the 2 folders hashes shows the same but the inner files names are the same while actual hash for each files is different them the output folder should show different otherwise we will get confused

if there is an option to add an accurate folder hash should be excellent please. ty.

I don't think he mean to show the md5 hash for all the files , this guy/girl maybe a spanish i know how he/she trying to tell his request , he maybe meant to make sure folder md5 hashes shows on the result must match only if the files inside these folder 100 % match , read his post again , i also have issue with folder duplicate match if searching for names and names are duplicate true but when add md5 hash however the folders contains different files the md5 column shows same hashes for 2 folders that have different files inside the only match is the file names

What is requested in this post is already possible: In case the comparison method "Name" is chosen from the dropdown, then folders are compared based on the file and folder names in it. Only if the names are 100% identical, they will get listed.
